Boating Safety
Summer is a busy time of the year on and around Lake Massawippi! Of course, security measures prescribed by the Municipality apply to boating. Therefore, during high season a patrol boat has a mandate to enforce, among other things:
• Speed limits (10 km/h up to 100 m from the shore and 70 km/h in the centre of the lake)
• Safety equipment
• Compulsory stickers
Police officers pay particular attention to:
• compulsory use of a life jacket for everyone on board (fine of $200 plus administrative charges)
• compulsory supervision during an activity with towable devices such as water skiing, water tubes and wakeboarding (fine of $250 plus administrative charges)
• dangerous drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol
