Permits for Fires – IMPORTANT!
It is very important to obtain a fire permit by calling the Town Hall before starting an outdoor fire. The person responsible will give you a permit if the level of Fire Risk (as stated by SOPFEU) permits it. You can find this indicator on our main web page.
Here is the procedure to follow :
During the week
You must get authorization from the municipality by phoning the town hall. If a permit is granted, it is important to provide the following information :
- The address of the fire, as well as your name and phone number
- The purpose of the fire as well as its expected duration
Please note that the authorization is only good for that day and that a new permit request will have to be made for each subsequent day.
On the weekend
It is your responsibility to check if weather conditions are favourable before lighting a fire (wind factor, dryness, etc.). This information is available from Environment Canada at 819-564-5702.
If weather conditions allow for a fire, it is important to leave the following information on the answering machine of the municipality so that your permit will be registered :
- Your name, address and the address of the fire
- The date and time you are lighting the fire
- The reason you are lighting a fire
Precautionary Measures
- Always have a hose near the fire
- Keep the fire under close supervision
- Make sure the smoke does not cause an inconvenience to neighbours
- Make sure the flames never exceed one metre (1 m) in height.
Garage Sales
Anyone who wishes to hold a garage sale must obtain a permit, free of charge, at the Town Hall. You can hold a maximum of three garage sales per year.
Fireworks
It is very important to obtain a permit by calling the Town Hall before setting off any fireworks.
