The Municipality of the Village of North Hatley is currently in the process of becoming recognized as an Age Friendly Municipality. North Hatley began the process of putting together its Age Friendly Municipality policy in the spring of 2016, thanks to the financial support of the Ministère de la famille of the Government of Québec (Secrétariat aux aînés). The municipality formed a project committee made up of citizens who are active within the community, a project coordinator, elected officials and administrative employees of the municipality, and a supervisor from the Carrefour Action Municipale et Famille (CAMF). The committee set to work immediately on the process of defining what it means to be a senior in North Hatley, completed a situational assessment of the municipality with the aid of socio-demographic data and an inventory of services that are offered on its territory, identified the main priorities affecting the lives of seniors and consulted the population of North Hatley to identify seniors’ needs.
The MADA committee is made up of the following members :
- Elizabeth Fee, councillor
- David Wilson, councillor
The committee completed the policy and action plan and North Hatley’s municipal council adopted the policy and plan on August 7th 2017.
